We live in a broken world, it can be frustrating to see so many people who need assistance, and we can’t help everyone. Unemployment, world hunger, and poverty are only a few things that come to mind. As a Christian, I have learned that God has a heart for those in need. On judgement day, God will acknowledge what we did to help those less fortunate: Matthew 25:40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
I mention this because I know what it feels like to have nothing and to feel desperate in fear that I will not be able to feed my children the next day. The people closest to me, helped me get back on my feet. Some people struggle alone, the students who finish school without prospects for employment or the people who are stuck in jobs that don’t pay enough to cover their expenses. With Covid19 and the conflict in Ukraine, unemployment is rising daily around the world, affecting every household.
They say knowledge is power, but how exactly do we implement it? I have been working with SpecCon Holdings which provides online education. They are offering access to 46 short courses, 20 qualifications, 7 learning programmes and health and safety training for only R100 per year. Cell C, MTN and Telkom have come on board to provide zero-rated data for students accessing the study material.
